FRAGMENTS

Sharks circling my bleeding heart

Waiting to feed

While I’m drowning in the flood

This world left for me

After living in the light

Shadows call and beckon

They know and I know

One day, I will succumb

And I opened my heart

Pulled back each swollen layer

Tore down crumbling, adamantine walls

Leaving the soul within defenseless

Fragments of agony

Scratched into being

Grant only a glimpse

Of the torment within
